On International Women's Day, I'm asking you to take two minutes to watch this amazing video of Amanda Gorman reciting her poem "Vital Voices." She's absolutely brilliant, beautiful and captures the essence of everything this day means -- and the radiant power within every one of us to change and challenge our world for the better.
We are thrilled to announce the addition of three new committees, and three new Committee Chairs in the OCDP!
Mikal Goodman, Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee
Cheryl Blanton-Herrman, Chair of the Community Support Committee
Caprice Jackson, Chair of the Young Democrats Committee
We can't wait to see the great work these leaders will do!
Dr. King famously said, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." His words implored us all in 1968 -- not long before he made the ultimate sacrifice -- and speak to us urgently now: It's up to us to bend it, and we have a long way to go. He was not saying that justice is assured no matter what, that it will come as long as we're patient. If the last four years -- four hundred for that matter -- have taught us anything, it's that we must constantly reckon with racism and eventually eradicate its roots. Nothing less. So don't rest.
Yesterday, the OCDP Executive Committee members elected our 2021-2022 OCDP Officers, who will begin serving on January 1st. We would like to thank the outgoing Officers for their dedication and hard work, and we offer our congratulations to the new Officers, listed below. We look forward to the years ahead with their leadership!

Vice-Chair: Wanda Anderson

Vice-Chair: Sharon Kelly-Person
Corresponding Secretary: Kevin Hrit
Recording Secretary: Julia Galliker
