Please join us on Saturday, June 18 from 10-2pm. Commemorating National Freedom Day in our hometown of West Bloomfield, MI. A free, fun, family-friendly event. Juneteenth honors the day the final enslaved people were emancipated in June 1865 and celebrates the countless contributions of African Americans to our community & nation. Music, arts, performances, refreshments, vendors and storytelling. Kids area, African Dance, WBHS Jazz Band, and more. Join us! More information at juneteenthWB.org

We welcome anyone to attend and/or volunteer. Students who volunteer can receive community service hours.

This community-wide event commemorating Juneteenth National Freedom Day will take place Saturday, June 19, from 10 – 12 a.m. at West Bloomfield High School. Sponsored by the West Bloomfield/Lakes Area Democratic Club, the program includes storytelling, music, displays by local artists and refreshments.  Juneteenth celebrates the final emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States, on June 19, 1865, and recognizes strength, endurance and faith of African American ancestors.  Free and open to the public, and all State and local Covid-19 protocols will be followed.

HEALTH CARE TOWN HALL: A PLAN FOR OAKLAND COUNTY

 

Please join us for a Health Care Forum with Andy Meisner. We will be focusing on the issues and proposed solutions for Oakland County.

 

November 12th, 6:30pm in Room 218 at West Bloomfield High School, 4925 Orchard Lake Road, West Bloomfield

Andy Meisner: Andy is the Oakland County Treasurer, former State Representative, and candidate for Oakland County Executive. He has been working on all the biggest issues facing Oakland County and is focusing on Health Care. Andy has created innovative solutions for our toughest problems. Andy will present his plan to improve the health, wealth and happiness of everyone in Oakland County, no matter their zip code.

 

Julia Pulver, RN, BSN, CCM:  Julia is a Clinical Leader at Caravan Health Services and a Managing Partner at HPS Consulting LLC.  She is the Founder and Director of Women Organize Michigan.  Julia recently announced her candidacy for State Representative of the 39th District. She is an expert on Health Care policy.

 

Charles Gaba: Charles is the Founder of ACASignups.net, which has been live-tracking Obamacare enrollments since the exchanges launched. His work has been cited by major publications as being the most reliable source available for ACA enrollment data in the country. Charles expanded his policy analysis to include a wide range of other  policy issues including the best route to achieving  universal healthcare coverage

 

 Dr. Theresa Brooks: Theresa is a physician of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Her practice focuses on serving the Senior population. After studying at UM, MSU and doing her residency at The Mayo Clinic, she has been practicing medicine for over fifteen years. Theresa has been featured on nationally televised Town Halls bringing her unique perspective to the conversation. Theresa was recently elected to the Troy City Council.
