This Notice for the May 10, Executive Committee Meeting, includes Notice, that OCDP Chair, Jody Job, will be resigning as Chair, effective on the election of her successor, as she will no longer be a resident of Oakland County as required by OCDP Bylaws.  This will create a vacancy in the office of Chair of the OCDP.  
 
Pursuant to OCDP Bylaws, Art. IV, Section 13, filling the vacancy as Chair is a two-step process.  First, at the May 10 Executive Committee Meeting, nominations will be made/taken for Chair to fill the remainder of the Chair's term of office.  Then, at least 7-days Notice must be given in advance of the next Executive Committee Meeting of the names of the nominee(s) standing for election.  Then, at that Executive Committee Meeting, an election will be held from among the nominee(s) for Chair of the OCDP for the balance of the term.  There can be no nominations from the floor at the meeting immediately prior to the election.  Nominations must be made at the May 10 meeting.

9th Congressional District Convention

Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until the Credential Report is accepted, thereby  closing off additional registrations. To ensure voting eligibility, Delegates should be in line to register no later than 10:00 a.m. 

The purpose of this convention will be to elect members and alternates to each of the three convention committees for the Michigan Democratic Party's 2022 Nominating Convention on April 9th: Rules, Resolutions, and Credentials, and to consider resolutions to be forwarded to the State Party.

Article IV Sections B & C of the MDP Rules stipulate the following qualifications for candidacy and eligibility to vote:

  • In order to hold Party office or vote at any Convention, Caucus, or meeting at any unit of the Michigan Democratic Party at any level, a person must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party for at least thirty (30) days prior to that Convention, Caucus, or meeting. A Party member must be a qualified elector in order to vote on nominations for public office.
  • However, Precinct Delegates, Democratic elected officials, and Democratic nominees to partisan office must be a member in order to vote and may join the same day as the Convention, Caucus, or meeting.Precinct Delegates, Democratic elected officials, and Democratic nominees to partisan offices are exempt from the thirty (30) days advance membership requirement.

Additionally, pursuant to Article V Section 5 of the 9th Congressional District Democratic Party bylaws, in order to be considered at the convention, resolutions must be presented to the District Chair in writing at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of the convention. Resolutions for consideration should be sent to the District Chair via email at dradtke@michworkerlaw.com.

Join us for our monthly meeting! Get to know your fellow Dems in Madison Heights and Hazel Park, learn about how you can get involved with the upcoming elections, meet candidates, and most importantly, DO something that could make a real life impact on our elections!

This month we are planning on hearing from a representative from presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg.

Monthly meetings are every 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm. We alternate between Madison Heights and Hazel Park each month.

One Campaign for Michigan is preparing to win in 2020 by organizing Days of Action to encourage voters to participate in the March 10 Presidential Primary. Volunteers are needed to help make phone calls and send text messages asking Democrats to request their absentee ballot for the March 10 Primary.

We have great candidates to choose from. It's up to us to turnout in large numbers to send the message that Michigan is ready to support our Democratic Presidential candidate and defeat Trump.
