I'm a proud product of our local public schools and I'm committed to championing an equitable funding model for our schools, so all students regardless of zip code are able to get a great public education, and so our educators are paid what they deserve. I've been fighting for our schools since I entered the legislature in 2018--and need your help to continue the fight into 2020 and beyond.

On July 14th at 6pm, join us for an Educators for Mari virtual fundraiser with special guest MEA President Paula Herbart. This will be a great opportunity to hear an update from our campaign and talk about how we can support educators, students, and our families in the upcoming election.

The Coronavirus pandemic has exposed the disparities in our education system and the importance of adequately funding our teachers and making sure all students have the resources they need to succeed. I'm honored to be a strong advocate for education in the State House, and promise to continue this fight.

I'm so grateful for your support, and look forward to seeing you on Zoom!

For those of you who don't know, Deb Haaland is one of my closest allies and confidantes in the House. We are almost the same age, and we both came to the House after a variety of jobs and experiences. We traveled to Israel and Palestine together as part of a four-person Congressional delegation. Throughout my entire first-term in Congress, I've been proud to stand with Deb Haaland - and I'm confident that she'll continue to be a progressive champion for the people of New Mexico, and the country as a whole, for a very long time.

Before coming to Congress, Deb and I were each involved in anti-racism work in our own worlds, going back to the 1980s. Please join us for an informal discussion on whether and how America can, at long last, make real progress in confronting our original sins of the genocide of Native Americans and systemic racism from slavery to Jim Crow to mass incarceration and beyond.

I eagerly look forward to getting to spend time with her virtually - and with all of you!
