MDP Statement on Gov. Snyder Signing Anti-Choice Legislation
Snyder’s Action Today Is Continuation of Right-Wing Agenda
LANSING – The Michigan Democratic Party released the
following statement on Governor Rick Snyder’s decision to sign House
Bill 5711, landmark anti-choice legislation that is designed to limit
Michigan women’s access to safe and legal medical care:
“Even though candidate Rick Snyder said that ‘social issues are not on my agenda,’
Governor Rick Snyder has repeatedly advanced an extreme, right-wing
agenda, continuing today with signing legislation that undermines
women’s access to health care,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair
Mark Brewer. “By enacting so-called ‘right to work’ legislation,
slashing funding for our kids’ schools, giving away billions in tax
breaks to corporate CEOs and now attacking women’s health care, Snyder
has shown whose side he’s on — and it’s not Michigan women, kids or
middle-class families.”
