Republicans cutting education - again

TAKE ACTION: HOUSE REPUBLICANS TO VOTE WED. MAY 8 ON POTENTIAL $800 MILLION CUT TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS

On Wednesday, May 8, Republicans in the State House plan on calling for a vote on a proposal to divert $800 million each year from schools to road repairs and construction.

While everyone in Oakland County can agree that more money is needed for roads, we can also all agree that taking money from our children’s education is not the way to do it.

Please TAKE ACTION today to your State Representative today and ask them to protect funding for Michigan’s schools and come up with a plan for repairing roads that isn’t dismantling public education in the process. Bills under consideration tomorrow in Committee are House Bills 4571, 4572 and 4677.

If you don’t have time to call your Representative please consider a special donation to the Oakland County Democratic Party so we can put your resources to work on issues like fighting for public education and our children’s future. – (link to donate – http://www.ocdp.org/membership/

As a parent and product of Michigan’s great public schools I thank you for your activism and support!
