MI GOP - Where's the outrage over Agema?

The question asked of Joe McCarthy could very well be directed to the MI GOP's leadership: At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"

DEADLINE DETROIT: Jeff Wattrick column: 'Breaking:' Rep. Fred Upton Isn't Asking Dave Agema To Resign
What isn't understandable is why Upton nor Gov. Rick Snyder nor
Attorney General Bill Schuette nor Secretary of State Ruth Johnson nor
MI GOP leader Bobby Schostak nor any other major Republican official has
called for Agema's exit, not only for posting a factually inaccurate
homophobic column that was sourced to witch doctors, out-of-date
studies, and unemployed Nazi chiropractors, but all of his other
shenanigans. . . . The question Joseph Welch once famously asked of Joe
McCarthy could very well be directed to the
Michigan Republican Party's entire leadership: "Have you no sense of
decency, sir[s]? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"

MLIVE: Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder avoids Dave Agema debate, says 'any kind of discrimination is wrong'
DN: Snyder declines comment on calls for Agema to resign following anti-gay Facebook post

Dennis Lennox, a Republican precinct delegate from Grand Traverse County
who has led the calls for Agema to resign, said there is no longer an
excuse for anyone in the party to remain silent. "I think certainly, in
light of what came out Friday, that at this point it's inexcusable for
good Republicans not to come out and say not only what Mr. Agema said is
deplorable and indefensible, but that there can be no room in the party
for someone who would share information from a person associated with
the KKK." While he is disappointed that Snyder and other prominent
Michigan Republicans have not joined in the call for Agema's
resignation, Lennox said that more than 200 party delegates and
activists represent significant opposition that cannot be ignored.

DN: Ex-AG Cox: Same sex marriage 'part of modern life'
Former
Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox said Monday he supports gay marriage
and criticized a fellow Republican who set off a firestorm last month
for posting an anti-gay article on Facebook. . . . "I like Dave [Agema]
and I find him entertaining at times, but posting the rants of a white supremacist using 40-year-old data hurts the party," Cox said. . . . Cox, who is now in private law practice in Livonia, urged other Republicans to "speak out against" Agema's rhetoric.

OPINION

GRP: Readers debate whether Dave Agema's Facebook post got people talking about gay marriage issue
Agema sent The [Grand Rapids] Press a letter to the editor. “I
posted a piece written by another writer and doctor. If you are looking
for someone to discuss his specific points I would recommend contacting
him directly or a pro-family group such as the Family Research Council. I
strongly stand by my pro-marriage values and freedom of speech right to
post opinions of others. “I recommend you go to my web page at www.daveagema.com
and click on the research button and do your own research and make your
own conclusions based on numerous studies and opinions.”

DN: Laura Berman: Bill can right an anti-gay wrong
Every
public official in Michigan, including the governor, is against
injustice and unfair treatment. "Any kind of discrimination is wrong,"
is the way Gov. Rick Snyder recently described his position. But being
against discrimination and simultaneously holding political office begs
the question: What are you going to do about discrimination where it
exists? . . . Two years ago state Rep. Jeff Irwin tried to do that. He
introduced House Bill 4060, which would enable gay couples to legally
adopt children together.
