Democratic presidential front-runner Barack Obama will hold a town hall meeting at Troy High School on Monday afternoon.  The campaign says the town hall will be held in the main gymnasium at the school beginning at 12:15 p.m. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public but tickets will be required. In order to get a ticket interested people must go to the Oakland County Democratic Party’s office at 515 S. Lafayette Ave, Suite C, in Royal Oak. Tickets will be available at that location from Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, or while supplies last.  Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.  No tickets will be held.

"This visit to Oakland County is recognition of the fact that Obama's campaign recognizes no Democrat can win without Michigan and  you can't win Michigan without Oakland County," said Dave Woodward, chair of the Oakland County Democratic Party.

Troy High School is located at 4777 Northfield Parkway in Troy. For security reasons, bags and umbrellas will not be allowed and nor will signs or banners.

We Have Great Candidates in 2008

The trend is evident:  the Democrats of Oakland County are on the move.  You can’t win the Presidency without Michigan, and you can’t win Michigan without Oakland CountyOakland County will deliver the decisive Democratic majority vote in 2008!   Carl Levin will be returned enthusiastically to the U.S. Senate.  And for the first time in recent history, a Democrat has an outstanding chance of unseating Joe Knollenberg for the 9th Congressional seat.  Gary Peters’ race is receiving not only local but national support including from the DCCC.

Democrats will be putting up strong challenge for every single county-wide position in 2008.

Brenda Lawrence, Mayor of Southfield, is running for Oakland County Executive.  Jessica Cooper, a former Circuit Court and Appeals Court judge, is running as Oakland County Prosecutor.  Sheila Smith, State Political Director for ACORN, is running for Oakland County Clerk. Andy Meisner, a current, term-limited State Representative from District 27, is running for Oakland County Treasurer.
