The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guaranteed women the right to vote. As part of the county's celebration of this milestone in our nation's history, the Board of Commissioners created the Women's Suffrage Ad Hoc Committee, chaired by Board Vice Chairwoman Marcia Gershenson. As one of many events during 2020, Vice Chairwoman Gershenson is co-hosting a special virtual tour with the DIA.

Take an inside look into the DIA's collection with trained docents Howard Rosenberg and Ray Henney. Throughout the tour, virtual visitors will see and learn about art that highlights the women's suffrage movement.

Please note that this is one of TWO events being hosted around the same theme. The June 11 tour will feature different artwork than this event. Follow THIS LINK to say you'll attend on June 11th.

During the event you will be able to ask questions, but you won't be on screen. Participating is easy! Please follow the link, enter your zip code, and sign into the Teams Live Event anonymously. Visit the Facebook page for some helpful tips to get you started.

To join the event click https://link.dia.org/RegisterTATMSuffragettes a half an hour before the start time and enter your zip code. This information helps the DIA ensure we are serving residents of Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne County. After you submit your zip code, you will be asked to click another link taking you to the live event. You will be able to sign in or select "join anonymously." If the live event hasn't started, you'll see the message "The live event has not yet started."
