OC DEM CANDIDATES READY TO RUMBLE

OCDP thanks everyone who participated in the Democratic Primary races and we congratulate the winners in the various contested races.  Barack Obama and Senator Carl Levin are joined by a great slate in OC for '08.

US House Races
Gary Peters' campaign recently launched a new web site, www.petersforcongress.com and is taking a community action approach (see story below) as the campaign season heats up in the 9th Congressional District.  The Peters campaign is a targeted race by the DCCC and is on the national radar screen for a Democratic pickup. 

Bob Alexander in the 8th Congressional District also has a new web site, www.alexanderforcongress.com  View Bob's new video "Road Trip for Change" which starts out with his purchase of a 2008 Chevy Malibu.  Click here to watch Bob travel the district visiting voters along the way.

Joseph Larkin was victorious in his primary battle with Ed Kriewall, former mayor of Livonia in the 11th Congressional district and will face Thaddeus McCotter in November.  Click here to visit Larkin's web site.

Gary Peters & Team Doing Community Projects Each Week

District Conventions Aug 16
8th and 9th Districts to Meet in Pontiac

Date:  Saturday, August 16
Time:  Registration and Credentialing starts at 9 AM
Convention begins at 10 AM and runs until 12 Noon 
Location: 1200 N. Telegraph, Pontiac
8th District will meet in Pernick Conference Room
9th District will meet in Commissioners Auditorium
The purposes of
 a District Convention are to elect Members and Alternates of State Convention Committees and to consider resolutions for forwarding to the State Convention Platform Committee.   The committees that the elections will be held for are: Credentials, Rules and Platform.  In order to be elected to a convention Committee a person must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party for at least 30 days prior.  Delegates to the Conventions are Precinct Delegates who were elected August 5, 2008, plus present Office holders or nominees for County and Legislative office.  In order to vote, those Delegates must be members of MDP on or before August 16, 2008.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world's largest one-day celebration of classic car culture.  It attracts over 1 million visitors, and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles.  The takes place along a 16-mile stretch of legendary Woodward Avenue from Ferndale to Pontiac.  OCDP will be at the Cruise at Vinsetta and Woodward.  ALL our Democratic Candidates are Invited to join us for this huge event.
