Precinct Delegate Appreciation Day Sat July 19

The role of Precinct Delegate is one of the most
important in all of campaigning and is the heart of establishing and
maintaining a vibrant and Democratic community.  Saturday The 9th
District Congressional District wants to say Thank All of their
precinct delegates in the 9th.  This will also be a valuable training
session:  learn what it means to be a Precinct Delegate and learn the
many tools and techniques at our fingertips.  All Precinct Delegates receive a free field kit
Your important role as a precinct delegate is part of change this
summer and fall!   The event is Free.  If you are unable to attend,
contact your local Democratic Club for the information and field kit
after the event.

Michigan Judicial Symposium In Pontiac July 26

empower and enlighten citizens of Michigan about their local judicial
candidates and as well as recent challenges to the Michigan
Constitution by decisions of the Michigan Supreme Court.  Panelists
include Judge Deborah Thomas, Judge Jessica Cooper, Rep. Tim Melton,
historian Carl Edwards, and attorneys Richard Bernstein, Wanda Evans,

Peters Campaign Cracks Top 10 for Fundraising on ActBlue

This week is Gary
Peters' Campaign Newswire debut, and the former Michigan state senator
has been the beneficiary of big name fundraisers on ActBlue, including
Michigan Senator Carl Levin, the DCCC, and Blue America. His weekly
total reflects the efforts of his campaign and the commitment of his

week set new records in attendance for OCDP.  This weekend OCDP On The
Road is on THREE fronts!  Here are two of them:

Saturday and Sunday, July 19 & 20


We'll have a table just outside the OCDP
Office at 515 S. Lafayette and Sixth Street and will be meeting people
who are attending the Royal Oakl Antique & Garage Sale. The sale is
the 33rd Annual Antique & Garage Sale and will be held in the
Lafayette Ave. parking structure between 5th & 6th St. 514 S Lafayette Ave.  
There will be over 300 vendors selling everything under the sun.  Come
meet and greet the visitors.  We'll have candidate lit, info about OCDP
and the Royal Oak Dems, and Obama yard signs, bumper stickers and
buttons. 
 
TIME: Saturday, July 19 from 9:30 am - 6 pm
Sunday, July 20 from 9:30 am - 5 pm
If you decide to attend the Sale, the admission is $1 admission for 12 and over. Under 12 free.

Join OCDP On the Road and the North Oakland Democratic Club at the Addison Township Strawberry Festival July 19 in Leonard, MI

The Strawberry Festival originally began with the Volunteer Fire
Department serving out Strawberry Sundaes and that's it.  Now they have
a parade, rides for the children, entertainment all day long, craft
show, car show, fire truck rides, and more.  This is the 56th Annual
Strawberry Festival.  OCDP and NODC will be joining forces to march in
the parade and to staff a Democratic Party booth at the all day

PARADE:

Location:  The staging areas will be at the Leonard Elementary
School parking lot.  Leonard Elementary School (Oxford Schools)335 E.
Elmwood St. Leonard, MI 48367

Time:  Staging time: 10:30 AM  Judging at 11:00 AM and parade starts
at Noon.  Our entry number is #21.  Note:  Please plan ahead as there
are no restrooms available at the school.

BOOTH:

The booth will be set up at 10:00 AM.  We'll open after the parade is over and we'll stay open until 6 PM.

Let us know if you'd like to be part of the set up or strike down crew or work a shift during the day.

CANDIDATES:  CANDIDATES ARE WELCOME TO MARCH WITH OUR UNIT FOR
FREE.  To march on your own, there's a $50 charge and you are likely
not going to have made the entry deadline.

CLOTHING:  Wear long pants or capris, khaki's suggested (no jeans,
no shorts).  We'll have OCDP and Campaign shirts (Levin, Lawrence, etc)
available to wear on top.  Or bring your own if you already have one.
