Kucinich to Campaign in Detroit Area, Jan 10th to 15th

Presidential candidate Kucinich to campaign in Michigan/Detroit area January 10th to 15th

Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich, a Democratic candidate for President of the United States, is coming to the Detroit area in advance of the Democratic primary election on January 15. Talks and rallies are scheduled for all quadrants of the region: Detroit, Livonia, Troy, Harper Woods, and Ann Arbor. All events are free and open to the public. Please see the complete campaign schedule below.

A six-term congressman, Kucinich represents Ohio's 10th District, including western Cleveland and its suburbs. He chairs the Domestic Policy subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

His 2008 campaign is his second quest for the presidency. "It is an extraordinary event for Michigan and the Detroit area to host a presidential candidate," said Mike Whitty, the State Coordinator of Michigan for Kucinich. "We welcome all area voters to attend — not only Democrats and independents, but even curious Republicans." This a chance for Michigan voters to focus on the Democratic Primary while so much attention is given to the GOP primary.

The Michigan Democratic Party has not endorsed any 2008 candidate for President. There will be four Democratic candidate names on the primary ballot: Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich, as well as "Uncommitted." "Uncommitted" votes will be allocated proportionally at the Democratic National Convention Aug. 25-28, 2008, in Denver, CO. The other Democratic candidates asked that their names be withdrawn from the ballot because of Michigan's early primary violated national Democratic Party rules. Senator Dodd dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucus last week..
