A six-term congressman, Kucinich represents Ohio’s 10th District, including western Cleveland and suburbs Parma and Cuyahoga Heights. He chairs the Domestic Policy subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. His 2008 campaign is his second quest for the presidency.

“It is an extraordinary event for the Troy Democratic Club to host a presidential candidate,” said Sandy Burgess, Club chair. “We welcome all area voters to attend -- not only Democrats and independents, but even curious Republicans.”

The Troy Democratic Club has not endorsed any 2008 candidate for President yet. Michigan’s presidential primary election will be Tuesday, Jan. 15, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at regular polling places.

There will be four Democratic candidate names on the primary ballot: Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich, as well as Uncommitted.”

“Uncommitted” delegates will be allocated proportionally at the Democratic National Convention Aug. 25-28, 2008, in Denver, CO.

Under Michigan law, a write-in vote for any candidate not listed on the ballot will NOT be counted if the candidate fails to declare a write-in candidacy to the Michigan Secretary of State at least 10 days before the primary election.
