PONTIAC – Today, Dave Woodward, Chair of the Oakland County Democratic Party announced that an effort is underway to recall State Senator Mike Bishop.

Bishop voted yesterday to cut $600 million in state revenue and doesn’t plan on replacing it.  If he’s successful and his cuts are enacted, massive cuts to public education, health care, and public safety are unavoidable.

This morning on WJR 760 AM Bishop said the state should go along with him and pass his cuts to education, health care, and public safety he proposed earlier this year.

“Sen. Mike Bishop has launched an assault on our state’s ability to educate our workforce, keep our families healthy, and protect our communities,” said Woodward explaining the reasons to recall Bishop.

“Bishop is steering Michigan right into a brick wall, and people are fed up with his reckless, extremist agenda that balances the budget on the backs of kids, police and fire and senior citizens. Mike Bishop has let the people of Oakland County down, and the recall election will give voters a chance to hold him accountable.”

Language to recall Bishop will be submitted to the Oakland County Clerk’s office in the next several days to begin the recall process, Woodward said.
